Ireland vs. Ecuador – Wednesday, May 23, 2007 – E. Rutherford, NJ
The match will mark only the second ever encounter between Ireland and Ecuador. Ireland, in its first New York metropolitan area appearance since a 2-1 win over South Africa in June 2000, defeated the South American country back in 1972. Ecuador returns to its large fan base in the New York area for the eleventh time. Key players for Ecuador are Edson Mendez (PSV Eindhoven / HOL), Carlos Tenorio (Al Sadd / QAT) and Luis Antonio Valencia (Wigan / ENG).
Tickets for the New York match start at $35 and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, Delgado Travel outlets and at the box office at Giants Stadium. Customers should call Ticketmaster NJ at (201) 507-8900, Ticketmaster NY at (212) 307-7171 or Delgado Travels at (718) 426-0500. Due to a possible conflict with other events at the sports complex, capacity will be initially capped at 30,000.
The match between the two squads will mark the third encounter between Ireland and Bolivia. The Irish, returning to the Boston area for the first time since June 2000 when they tied 1-1 with the USA, have one won all previous matches against Bolivia, including a 3-0 result in 1996 in New York. Bolivia has played once before in the Boston area, a scoreless tie versus South Korea during the 1994 FIFA World Cup. The Bolivian team includes Juan Manuel Peña (CF Villareal / SPA), Gualberto Mojica (Pacos Ferreira / POR) and Ronald Raldes (Rosario Central /ARG).
Revolution customers should call 1-877-GET-REVS, or Massachusetts Ticketmaster outlets at (617) 931-2222 to purchase tickets. Tickets start at $37 with discounts available for groups of 20 or more.
